View Full Version : Starting to become tired of fighting an enemy that is shrouded with deceit...

I'm starting to become tired of fighting an enemy that is shrouded with deceit. An enemy who fights outside of the boundaries of the universe in which it is housed. An enemy, that manipulates the course of battle, enticing and manipulating all those who participate to be subject to its unconditional yet sublime terms. An enemy that has us all running around and around and around in a circle on a wheel, that can only stop if we die or get off. An enemy that even through our perceived previous victory over it, gains more in defeat and is unequivocally the overall victor.

Those who want plain English, ok!

Well, no more boss events for me. Seems all GREE want to do now is continue to increase the difficulty to make you spend more. Hahaha:mad:(evil game designer laugh)... Do they think we are all that stupid not to notice? I dare ask people, what's the point in becoming stronger to better your chances in participating in such events if the events also become more difficult and require more money next time you play the event rather than require less from you as you have gained more strength from the previous? Ask the new players who have just started playing these events where they are at? They are probably 20 steps behind those who have been playing these events since the start, before they even start themselves?

Unfortunately bye, bye Boss event! You served your purpose for a while, now you have been nerfed to benefit the GREEdy. Bring on the LTQE in line with the first few. GREE DON'T change anything other than the events storyline, units and randomizing of stats of the earned units within their tier bracket.

If you continue on your current way GREE, gradually making events more difficult to entice players to spend more rather than the players being able to use their hard work that they have already developed in their game to complete the quests, then you will loose valuable players and loyal fans. These events are at the core suppose to be player friendly...or is it just a ploy to force more people to spend more, and more and more money? I'll leave this for individuals to decide. Personally, I tire from this repetitive dribble. It might be time for me to diminish and venture to the unforeseen lands...

Agree with this, as I have now doubled my stats since the last Boss event , I can only go 1 boss higher for 70K A/D ??
Whats up with that ! I should be able to get at least 5 more for that amount . I didn't get the last 1 I won't get this 1 , and considering the Chimera event was a total blow out from so many players , I just play these for free to a point and that's it ! If I can spend 20 on a LTQ and get the top prize why would I spend Hundreds to get a boss event that is sooo random and unacheivable I am wasting my money ! Put it this way if I can get to the top for less I do it ... Not fork out hundreds for pissant little crap units that do zero for my army !
I think they need to sit down and re-assess there strategies on these type of events ...even The1nONLY is not going all the way this time... So big spenders not spending cause it not worth it !

That's the freemium business model. It is very dangerous and i predict that within 1-3 years, new laws will emerge to prevent the way how these companies are making money. The internet is almost uncontrollable and that is the problem here. Which law will apply.

It is up to common sense and intelligence of all players to decide and realize what they pay and do. This game is great, but indeed... The cost is ridiculous compared to any other traditional game on pc, Xbox, PlayStation.

But enjoy the game, its a great one. Keep thinking and decide what it is worth to you and what it should be worth compared to similar products in other markets.

Correct, what it's worth! I am a family person 2 kids and a wife with a mortgage ..like most I enjoy playing this ...but to a point , yes I spend money on it ..most times it has value to the amount of maybe 30-50 dollars a month , but with these new events and units getting harder to defeat, I know it's part and parcel but honestly the % off people who actually complete these event spend Thousands , I spent well over 700 for the last event where a lot of people including myself all were bitterly disappointed with the particular drops!only a selected few got this ! That is not random that's Gree playing the player! And that's why I now refuse to partake in spending my own money on Boss events, cause it my choice, yes they need the money but where does it stop ! How much is unreasonable ! Take the amount over a year that's a lot of money ! You get out of it what you put in but my 700 was wasted not because I played wrong because the system was not fair and just !but my lesson has been learnt and I know better now but it was costly!

Spot on fellas, you hit it on the nail.
Yep, The1 isn't a fool, and older players such as WildStallion and The Red have i can safely assume grown tired of wasting money and time on a merry go round that gives nothing substantially important and really relevant back to the players who have spent exuberant amounts of money. I'm a little disappointed because these new events are bringing life back to the game but if the developers continue to do what is described above, then it will undo all the enjoyment these events are bringing to the game.

All go this far and say the only people really winning in this game are the cheats and hackers! They enjoy the gameplay and all the new events without continually wasting money to become stronger for no real purpose other than to try to keep up with GREE increasing the strength of the next event.

Agree with all that's been said here... I'm not a heavy gem spender but have spent money. And with each event I've had this feeling like it has been getting harder and higher rewards that come with it. And it seemed like it just kept increasing each time and I wondered how it was going to work long term. Mathematically from a gameplay perspective it just didn't seem logical but I couldn't put it into words like Hammer did. At some point the higher rewards make you think you're boosting your stats a lot but in the end it's not proportionate to difficulty of gameplay.

I DISAGREE with all of you because I'm sure most of you have at least few units from LTQs which were gained for free or by using gems, now look in the past few months where we only had lame box event where people had to spend not hounded of dollars but thousands just to get twice weaker unit, than you have now from LTQ which most of the time requires 500~ gems to gain top unit with 7k~stats , and REMEMBER guys this is business and you need to make some profit out of your business , otherwise there would be no point to keep that business.

I agree bosses are nuts. I have like 200k attack and can't get even close to 20 for the first reward. I'm over level 100. Such bs. If I can't do it and I can blind attack down the list and win every fight then there is a problem.

But surely the many spending a small amount of gems due to decent incentives will provide for a much more stable and profitable business than an extreme minority who are willing to spend big amounts on relatively few occasions?
ie. the supermarket principle.
Different companies I'm aware of have gone 'ultra premium' and dissociated themselves from their normal (and large) customer base. The usual suspects have then become alienated. Then they leave. Then the company is trying to rely on the few spending more.
Tends not to work as a business model.

Winstrol, the point isn't that they don't need to make money. It's how they are trying to do it. There are alot of business models that aren't a flash in the pan. They've chosen the flash in the pan. Those of use who can't afford crazy money are simply being phased out and, even if anyonw wanted to get in the fray at this point well, it's too late. It'd cost $1000's. I had hoped to put some money in Gree soon but right now I'm really, really close to quitting all the games. Unfortunately for Gree, if everyone leaves (and leaves negative reviews on the way out, those that do have $1000's to spend will end up beating up on a bunch of empty kindgoms/settlements/etc. That almost sounds like fun. Better yet, in MQ, those high levels can only see 1 single level (60) in their battle lists. They'll be in even worse shape than those in different games.

I agree with your point too Winstrol. I think we understand its a business, but the scaling seems off on the boss events. I just question if they are going to keep this up as the new standard of gameplay in regards to boss events. These events are more fun than previous events a few months back, but only because they are happening more often and award bigger prizes. Technically we're not getting stronger despite being rewarded stronger prizes, because everyone (most people) are getting the same prizes. So back at GREE enterprises their stats on average strength level among all players is just higher now than before. That being said, it means they make it harder to get top prizes. It just didn't seem like a proportionate scaling. The carrot at the end of the stick is moving farther away and harder to reach, so to speak. Obviously these games have no end or ultimate level like a Super Mario, otherwise we'd stop playing (read as paying). So they have to keep things out of reach or at a premium cost. In the end, you play as long as you're willing to accept the way it is... I don't complain that I've spent money or that i was forced too. For now, I'm still in... We'll see what the future holds.

Agreed. The new LTQ events are great, even for free and light gem buyers like myself. Great units in those events. By comparison, however, the Box and especially Boss events are growing increasingly lame. The Boss rare prizes are maybe 1/2 to 1/4 the stat strength of the LTQ prizes from the high 20's to high 30's level in the LTQ. There's not much motivation at all to bother spending gems on Box or Boss events when taking that into consideration, especially since the prizes in those events are based on chance. Much prefer the LTQ events where I can at least get into the mid 30's for free, and high 30's with only a few energy refills through gems.

Seems like a lot of players are complaining that the LTQ events are too hard but if it was so easy then I'm sure people would be complaining about that too as the game would be too boring. I am a free player so far and I might be persuaded to put some money towards gems at some point. I just don't think it's too fair to criticize the developers when it's your individual choice to purchase gems and your choice how to use them. The boss and box events are fun but if you don't get the best bang for your buck using gems for these events then use your gems towards something else. Part of the fun of this game is figuring out a strategy to maximize your stats with limited resources. I don't think the game is trying to screw players over. Just realize that drops are random and based off of statistics so focus your efforts on things with a higher return. It's like going to Vegas and gambling a bunch of money and then complaining that you lost.

Thanks guys for your response to the OP... To others, please read the OP, maybe then you'll actually understand what I'm saying and not go off on a tangent saying LTQ this and that.

Everyone has the right to an opinion of course and its great if you disagree with what I've said. If you believe that it's ok that you have to spend more money the next time you play the boss event even though you've payed and played the previous one to become stronger, then more power to you. Not dissing you one iota, but I'm just saying I won't become a hamster on the wheel of deceit.

I think its pretty well balanced. The LTQ where you kill monsters are really good if youre above level 100 with most if not all skill point invested in HS. With high HS most high level players can go far into the quest but for low level players with insufficient HS wouldnt be able to do so. As for boss event
i think players <L100 have it easier since they cant go far into the LTQ(pve) that requires a good amount of HS.

Boss events are for low level players
LTQ (pve) are for high level players

Although both category of players can do either events, its hard for LLPs to finish LTQ(pve) due to low HS and its hard for HLPs to defeat bosses due to high boss health. Box event on other the hand i think caters for both categories of players, anyone with lots of money to spend can get/win the prize. Just my 2 cents

EDIT: I forgot to mention that its also easier for high level players since they have a higher energy bar compared to low level players.

Correct at the start of your comment , and I agree but what I disagree is the last part of it " anyone with lots of money to spend can get/win the prize " , this is incorrect with the last event ( I call the Chimera) I spent $700 now that's lots and did I win ??...no I got a unit that I could have purchased for 400 gems not $700 dollars worth ! Fair..no ..ripped off..yes ..but luck of the draw...when it's rigged not to drop random that's my point...how much did the Top player spend just to get that unit ! Yes LTQ better for high level players and boss events for low level players, but it's the amount of cash put into something that's is not random or worth while.. But it takes 1 event like that to make you relise you have been taken down the road for a ride ! Spend huge amounts and get diddley squat! How is that random... Gree knew what they were doing and they play on our challenges to get a unit that was not forth coming... How much do you reckon you would have spent for that unit?? 100-150?? Why did it take700 and still not get it .. Like the casino you can stop anytime IF you want.. But do you want the top prize or not... But the Casino has odd that you can at least get something back not crap.I paid enough for it several times over and that's how they made this event profitable for them ,,how long did it take Gryffon to get that's unit and how much did he spend?
My point is ..yes I will spend money if I think it's worth it but my chances were taken away from me on that event and I didn't have a choice I could have thrown 1,000 at it and still not got it! But I can tell you I have learnt my lesson and it won't happen again and this will be in line with most others..like Hammer. And I will take your 2 cents !

I would like to see the game include more things to do with our army,
and more incentive to build it up. Right now boss fights are pointless.
I'm at level 111, 210k attack, and I don't feel the 6 cave trolls + 5 others
are much of an incentive. That leaves raiding and protecting
my cash during upgrades. Well, raiding is getting fairly boring. So right now
the only value I can place on having a nice army is to enable upgrades.
I've reached 6/6 manors, and am looking ahead wondering if there is anything
more interesting to look forward to. I'm having doubts about that.

Another thing frustrating about the boss/box events is the opaqueness of the game.
At no point do we know boss health, boss drop odds, 20/30 reward stats,
box open odds, unless somebody else in the forum has gone further and posted results.
We don't even know if the dealing is fair or considers hidden factors like
chances that particular players may be enticed to buy gems in different situations.

I couldn't agree more!

I have pretty much every boss so far..... Spending (on average) 500 gems per boss. Now I have hit the 100's I realise that I can't get the boss for less than 3000 gems, I just won't bother.... Therefore that is 500 gems per boss that Gree will lose. Multiply me by the 1000's who play a similar game to me and this really starts to add up for Gree.

I still play the LTQ's and still spend gems, but won't if the LTQ's go the same way

Gree.... You should gap obtain a better understanding of the tipping point - like you did in MW!

BTW - I only meant to boss 30 - not boss 50!

Really have to agree with this thread.

One thing is that they "have" to make money, but in this way they are loosing alot me thinks.

Boss events is soooo stupid. Just finished boss 10(with half interest in this event), needed around 10 hits at 4000gold pr hit, thats 40000 for that useless cave troll. Cant imagine what level 20 would be for me. At level above 100 and almost 200k attack, shouldnt it be easier for me to finish? The whole point of the game is to build stronger and stronger, how can it be more difficult when youve done that? Its undermining the game to make challenges for lower level player, if you want more stuff you should build stronger and level up. I wont spend any gems on this, and Gree should do something about it.

I think many people misses the point with "you dont have to play it" or "its free stuff the first levels". Point is what we could have had instead of this, an event everyone would like to play.

Ratma, did you send a ticket to Gree with your complaint about the Chimera? I know it would be extremely frustrating when you read that Gambit got the Broodmother for free, I think.

Actually i did resets earlier like the first 2 days & purchase a pile of gems = 120 gems worth $7.99 with that 20% off...

I agree but what I disagree is the last part of it " anyone with lots of money to spend can get/win the prize " , this is incorrect with the last event ( I call the Chimera) I spent $700 now that's lots and did I win ??...no I got a unit that I could have purchased for 400 gems not $700 dollars worth ! Fair..no ..ripped off..yes ..but luck of the draw... Why did it take700 and still not get it .. Like the casino you can stop anytime IF you want.. But do you want the top prize or not... But the Casino has odd that you can at least get something back not crap.

Maybe you should think about it. The Broodmother is a Powerful unit not to have.

Everyone has a point in each side of their opinion. This is a great debate between Free players, Light Gold spender, & the Top dogs - which is the high gold spenders.

I have realize lately that i can beat the LTQ for free, then i spent $10.00 bucks for the next, then $20, then lately i spent $50. The first LTQ was just a bate for everyone that think they can beat it for free. And now its getting expensive.

I agree with Ratma - that he said this game like in a Casino. You keep playing that slot machine & can't win the Jackpot prize like he has a hard time getting that Chimera.

I agree with Aephlux opinion & this pattern too like he said:

1. Boss events are for low level players
2. LTQ are for high level players
3. Leaderboard event is for everyone especially for Top dogs only, to get the Top 1 unit & also the Top 50...

I agree that there needs to be some reward for sticking with it, leveling up and becoming stronger. I don't want the quests to be too easy, but i want to be able to get farther each time. I haven't been able to get past level 8 on a boss game and don't have ant incentive to spend gems on it when I can't even get close to a reward level.

same here, can only get to 7 with gold hits.

Gree made these events so hard for higher lvl players because of the 10% which spend their time camping. Cuz at lvl 50 if you camp long enough you'd be able to afford dragons, which could get you a for your level insanely strong army, with which you could get 20-30ish for free. At least thats what i think.

Around 450£ which include all gem builds and rest where for events like LTQ or top 250 , and I have never bought any gem units like priest of sands etc

Really, 450£ ? I can't understand why people spend so much RL money on this game or any of the Gree games. I'm a free player, and for me it's not about the money - I'm on a six-figure salary so I could easily by gems - I just wanted to see what I could achieve without using money as a crutch. It's actually become a matter of pride to have not spent a single cent on the game. I know I'll never compete with the big gem spenders but I did the BD10 and have 140K A/D stats on level 95 so I'm pretty happy with that. It's possible to achieve quite a lot with patience and strategy rather than throwing dollars at the game. Frankly, for the kind of money some folks are spending here I'd rather buy a couple of XBox games and another big screen TV or something. Heck, I'd rather give more to charity than drop a grand on some boss unit I'll have forgotten about next month.

Seriously, the money being spent here reminds me of people with gambling addictions... and the psychology Gree uses is similar. The gem spenders who pat themselves on the back because they're supporting software development, think again. You're being used by corporate manipulators who are very carefully structuring an addictive game to fleece you of your hard-earned cash. If you're happy with that, fine, but see it for what it is. Get some perspective before you drop your next $700 on gems - what is it you are actually getting for your money?

What's the point of having a 6 figure salary just to play for free? Why tell us that? If everyone play for free like you, there'll be no game to play. Gree will just shut down all the games.

I still have the same opinion. I know Gree wants just our money and nothing else, however we are free to choose how we will play the game. If I have the money and want to spend on the game is my own choice. A ppl needs to know their limits. We could write about that much more but honest it won't change how things are.

Well, I`m lvl 135 and my attack is 265K. Of course, the raw attack is lower, as I have BK lvl10. But, to make your attack bigger you should really think of equipment. For example, I figured out that my minimum weapon was only 6 before starting to buy that HeavyAxes. Suppose to buy 1300 of them, this will add me about 7 500 - 10 000 Attack :) (well, now have only 600, but moving)...
This is the best way, if we`re not talking about the units better than Dragons (they can be obtained from LTQs or Gems - whatever you prefer) :)

This is one of the reasons I've decided not to spend a single dime on this game. The treadmill only seems to speed up the more you put into it so there's no point as far as I can see.

Neither reason is because gems are horridly overpriced for what you get out of them. 50 gems for $5? No thanks. Maybe 50 for $1 and I'd buy some.

Sorry, I'd have to open a meth lab in my basement just to justify buying more than a mountain of gems a year.

I understand some people around here spend thousands a month on this game, and good for them if they can afford it, but I really think that Gree would make more money* by lowering the entry level requirements to the TLQs and lowering the cost of gems.

TLQs really aren't fine. The difficulty curve is far too high and it's increasing faster than most people can keep up with without copious amounts of gems, again, bringing us to the problem of overpriced gems.

It almost feels like Gree is catering only to those willing to drop hundreds of dollars or more a month. That's a very dangerous dance for them to do. Lose to many of the high rollers for any reason and who will be left to pay the bills? Like I said, the entry level for the game just keeps going up and up and up and new player turnover will rise with it. Nobody wants to join a game in progress where the game is rigged in favor of those already at the top. Basically, people who participate in all these TLQS and complete them and get the 4-digit a/d creatures are untouchable by those who joined the game later with zero hope of catching up unless the high rollers all suddenly quit. There's no means to catch up. Me, for instance, i started playing Dec 26th and I'm camping now at level 50 building my army and iph so I stopped doing the TLQs and boss events because I don't want any more xp. When I finally am comfortable leveling to the point where my a/d and energy bar is enough to have hopes of completing some of the events and I start getting those insanely high creatures, how can I catch up to someone who already has 20 of them? 30? More? There's no means to catch up, that's my point, and that's going to come back to bite Gree in the ass later on.

If I were more of a conspiracy nut I'd say that it feels like Gree plans to ride this game out until the current big timers get tired of paying for the treadmill and then here going to drop it for the next treadmill. That, or they have terrible foresight.

Sorry, call me cheap/thrifty, not motivated/dedicated... whatever.
I don't mind spending a light amount of cash on something I am pretty much guaranteed to see (income building, LTQ/40 event where I know what I can receive with x-dollars, etc).
I choose not to spend extra money on a possible drop, such as for the reindeer during the holidays. I even was missing only one unit for the last 13 bosses I took down with gold-hits. Alas, that was back under the level 50 range, where I could take down bosses up to 25 or so. Now in the next bracket, I can get to boss 11. That's a huge change, imho. It's not like I don't have decent attack either. Fine, I won't complain about the boss events, I just go as far as I can and stop. I then look forward to the next LTQ/40.
My point is, I'm not going to get another badge or medal from this game; only enjoyment here and there, perhaps a few friendships along the way. It's all in the journey and I'm having fun, honestly. I feel sorry (sort of) for those smashed kingdoms I see where they had 20k A/D nearing level 100, but know why they made mistakes. Eventually, that will be me, but hopefully after more months of enjoyment and perhaps around level 150, with any luck.
For now I remain brave and strong, "only compared to some"

I definitely agree with this point, which I've made multiple times (to the air, as I argue with myself), but I don't begrudge anyone that does spend money. I also don't think it's fair to say that free players are skating by on other's generosity ala a PBS pledge drive. It's all good. Free love and what not, right?

As far as the LTQs, some are great and some suck. I would personally rank them, in descending order of entertainment value:

Monster killing quests on various stages like the Vaults of Asgard
Collection quests like the Armor of Maddox
Prize opening quests like the Phoenix eggs (without taking in to account the unit collection feature)
Boss quest - was totally excited for the first one of these, but now that I know level 7-8 is my max...zzzzzzzzzzz
Anything PVP, but especially that last one with the multiple hundreds of attacks. Clicking boredom!

I'm probably forgetting some quests or another, but all in all I find them entertaining. You just have to manage expectations going in as a free player. Wherever stage of the quest you were hoping to get to, drop 10-80%. You'll be much happier!

In addition - corsair crag wtf ? I can't get the cyclops to pop up despite killing of the units again and again

Quit now. I should set up camp and wait for you.

I hate these posts. All I heard (read?) were tears hitting the keys.

And all I hear is "I've got mine and that's all that matters because I'm a worthless cúnt who couldn't handle the competition if the game weren't an elitist clubhouse."

The "problem" with the boss event strength is that it is taken from an averaging of a certain percentage of the highest stat players within each bracket.

Therefore you are always facing a moving target, with the obvious drawback for many players that they fall further and further behind those players who have the purchasing capacity and the willingness to buy gems to get to the end of each event.

Then factor in the cheat/hack factor which pushes the strength artificially higher and you can clearly see that the boss events have a diminishing interest factor for the majority of players.

The LTQ's are generally a better event for the majority of players, playing for free I managed to complete a couple of them, the last I got to around 38 of 40 which I consider fine for my chosen preference of play.

AS an aside I find it interesting to see that level 10 players are getting the same units as the level 200's on the current boss event.

Edit:
Another indicator to me is that the LTQ's are coming in with more and more time on the boss event clock. Likely reason is that the level of play in the boss event is somehow monitored and when it drops below a certain level then the next LTQ is activated. Little bit of extra strength from te first stages of the LTQ and somebody gets tempted to try another boss....gets a sep closer to them maybe spending a little trying to get to a prize target....

Stop screwing with my thread people, stay on topic. ;-)

Unfortunately the new LTQ is heading down the path of, kill monsters till you get this number of things. I'm simply going to laugh at this and walk away from it on day one. The rewards a crap anyway! Sitting on quest 5 I think I've killed more monsters than the amount of teeth in the entire Osmond family... And that's a lot.

It that so is it Q? Where did you get your info from? If that's the case, lets let all new players know that events are not worth participating in as they have not been created with 'you' (the new player) in mind. In other words, we can safely say to new peps, to stop wasting your money. If that info is the case, I think GREE would be a little uneasy with that info chiming out. The game should come with a warning then lol! Anyway, I personally think that players should know what they are paying for to participate in first up. We'd have less people annoyed with event ...but on the other hand GREE would realise their are people who have a brain and would work out people are pretty quick on working out what they are really up too. I'd be all for events being advertised before they go up. Then again...lets be honest and say that some of these events have been put up without any beta testing.

That info relating to the boss strength was from one f the MW threads which related to one of the events where CCM met with some players.

I will have to track it down again. Did not take a lot of notice as I had already figured out pretty much what was going on. Don't think it mentioned precise percentages anyway.

I will put money on the next elite event for both MW and MQ being significantly higher though. one has had a major handout of high end units due to the Battle for Brazil event, the other a major imbalance due to people being able to obtain multiple high stat legendary monsters.
