Not sure if this has been posted anywhere else (apologies if it has) but the Building Upgrade Cost reduction isnít all that it seems, IF you have a Lumber mill.

I have a L10 Mill and I want to upgrade my Library to L6:

Upgrade Cost = 13,000
LM discount 10% = 1,300
Actual Upgrade Cost = 11,700

That is what I expect, all fine and dandy-o.

I have just purchased a 5% reduction for my Guild
I thought I would now get a 15% discount (10% LM + 5% Bonus) making the new cost 11,050

Oh no.

The 5% bonus is deducted from the discounted value

11,700 Ė 5% = 11,115

I know its only a library and a difference of 65 gold, but I was quite looking forward to L10 LM, maximum bonus AND my BD10 run

Unfortunately, most discounts all work like that. They all use the post-discounted values as the starting values.

Like if you take a 50% off coupon into a store that already has 30% off their products, you DON'T get 80% off....
The effect is multiplicative

As I've posted elsewhere, expecting bonuses to be additive is just silly. With just the LM and the guild discounts, you'd already be at -35%. Add in a few event items and you'd be so close to zero they'd be free. Never gonna happen. Btw the final upgrade cost of bd10 with guild discount and lm10 is ~1.32 mil, a 580000 savings. I'm not complaining.

Thats good to know. 1.32 mil doesn't sound that bad. Sell a couple buildings and you're looking at something very doable. Too bad my lumber mill is only at 3 lol.

I agree is a rip off. Is not much point putting in the time effort and $$ for LM10 when 2 guild upgrades would instead have same benefit.

This was since the beginning and mentioned several times. In these games the approach is as it is... it's valid etc.

The only difference is that LM10 covers the initial new build. It looks like the bonus only covers the later upgrades.
