Has anyone ever gone to change your payment method and in iTunes it would actually change your purchase of gems to gold? That just happened to me - do people actually buy gold?

They're very inconsistent in responding to accidental gold purchases. I've done it twice - first time they refused to, second time they happily made the change. I think it has more to do with which customer service rep is responding and what sort of mood they are in. Good luck.

I hit the gem button but went into iTunes to update a payment method and it switched it over. It was very bizarre. Hope no one else wastes 100 bucks on it.

Just had the same issue. Got told to take it up with iTunes.
